Its okay, its clear that Apple dont care about this minor issue, and its about time to retire this printer anyway. Its a laser printer without any scanning or any other features. The problem is when I connect my iPhone and Image Capture launches (I use Image Capture to offload photos from my iPhone).
Under the DEVICES, theres the hp Laserjet 1012 listed with a downward pointing arrow icon on the left. A prompt pops up ask Software for this device is not installed. Software For This Device Is Not Ed Download And InstallScanning software for this printer is available from Apple Would you like to download and install it So I click Install and then it fails with an error message Software for this device is not installed (-9945). Is there a way to stop this behavior I have Sierra 10.12.4, and I had this happening a long time now. Software For This Device Is Not Ed Drivers And SoftwaresI have other drivers and softwares for networked Canon multifunction all-in-one, and an Epson software too. I use ImageCapture to import photos from iPhone or SD card to an application called ExifRenamer to rename the photos and videos into 20170502112300.jpg naming scheme, which is stored in Pictures directory. Afterwards I manually upload them to GooglePhotos and also my home server. If your printer supports those features, download the appropriate drives for that printer for that website. If the drivers on the manufacturers website indicate that the drivers are not supported on Sierra, thats likely why its telling you that. Once the drivers for this device are updated, you will no longer experience this issue. Its just a simple USB connected laser printer from Windows XP days. OS X drivers are integrated so there nothing to install separately. I dont get why the OS thinks they found a driversoftware and then it says sorry, over and over again. ![]() The HP 1012 is just a plain laser printer, so its weird that it even thinks it has a scanner software. Again, HP 1012 is just a USB laser printer with no additional extra features. HP didnt even have proper drivers for a while even after Vista came out as it was treated as a cheap entry-level outdated printer. But hey, it still works fine on OS X so Im using it until the refill-toner runs out. Of course I tried looking for official drivers, but there are none for the HP Laserjet 1012. You are supposed to use the stock driver thats in OS X, which Im using. This printer is just a very basic laser printer, no duplex, no scanner, no fax or anything.
